Obituary

Meri-Lee C. (Owen) Mafera went home to be with Jesus on Saturday March 9th after a brief illness. She was born in 1954 to the late Norma (Nash) Owen and John Wellington Owen.

It became apparent early in her life that her passion was music, and she spread that joy of music wherever she went. After living in New York City and Boston, she eventually settled on the South Shore, living for many years in Marshfield and later in Pembroke. In her later years she was a music teacher at the Inly school in Scituate and music director at St. Christine's Church in Marshfield. It was during her time on the South Shore that she became so much more than her talent. She has been known as teacher, friend, mom, and Glamma. Each hat that she wore was one she took great pride in, and her love and joy touched every life around her.

She is survived by her son Benjamin and his wife Sarah of Berlin NH and grandchildren Elliot and Edith.  Visiting Hours will be Friday, March 15, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield.  A funeral mass will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Christine's Church, 1295 Main Street in Marshfield.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Inly School, by mail to 46 Watch Hill Drive, Scituate MA 02066.
