Michael Gerard Gustin, dearly beloved, age 64, passed away from his battle with heart disease on July 23, 2015. He was peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home, in Duxbury, MA.
Michael is survived by his wife, Anne Marie Gustin (McCarthy), of Duxbury, MA; His daughters, Laurie Sullivan and her husband Ryan of Plymouth, MA; Katherine Gerstel, and her husband Aaron of Marshfield, MA; Kristine Gustin, of Marshfield, MA; His beloved granddaughter, Avery Anne Gerstel, of Marshfield, MA; His siblings, William (and Susan) Gustin, of Abington, MA; Karen (and Joseph) Monteforte, of Randolph, MA; and Diane (and Guy) Deluca, of Plymouth, MA; and his nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Michael was born on September 6, 1950 in South Boston, MA, to the late William & Mildred (Greeley) Gustin. He graduated from Catholic Memorial High School in 1968, and Bentley University in 1972 with a degree in Accounting. In 1985, he moved to Duxbury, MA, where he worked for over 25 years as Regional Vice President at Browning-Ferris Industries (BFI), and finished his career with 16 years as the owner of Massachusetts Waste Systems, Inc.
Michael was a great family man and a loving father and grandfather. He married Anne Marie (McCarthy), his high school sweetheart, in 1972. Michael was a social, active man who loved his trips to Aruba, woodworking, gardening, golf, and playing his favorite game of "Keno." Most importantly, Michael enjoyed spending time with family and friends, who will always remember him as a devoted, generous, kind, family-comes-first man, who always did things "My Way."
The family would like to thank South Shore Visiting Nurse Association and Tufts Medical Center in Boston for their tremendous care for Michael. A special thank you to "Jay" and Dr. Amanda Vest for their amazing support and care these last few months. Words cannot express our appreciation.
Visiting hours will be held at MacDonald Funeral Home located at 1755 Ocean St. in Marshfield on Sunday, July 26, 2015 from the hours of 4-8pm. A celebration of life will be held at Holy Family Church located at 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury MA at 10 am on Monday, July 27, 2015.
