With a heart full of kindness and a life dedicated to caring for others, Michelle Tegan journeyed to heaven on July 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memories.

Her story began in Cambridge, MA, where she was born to Michael and Eleanor Kalan. She was their everything—the princess she was meant to be. Her parents loved her beyond compare and were so proud of the woman she became. As a young girl, she and her parents moved to Hull, where Michelle would tell stories of Nantasket Beach and Paragon Park. Michelle loved every minute of living and going to school in Hull. Little did she know she would meet people she would later call her best, lifelong friends. Ahead of graduation, Michelle longed to be an artist, but Mike made sure she had a solid foundation, telling her she could choose from three professions: nurse, secretary, or teacher. She chose to be a nurse. She went to the Faulkner Hospital School of Nursing and learned a profession that became part of her identity.

She would go on to move to Scituate and later Marshfield, and have three daughters, Christa, Tara, and Shannon, whom she loved completely and unconditionally. She worked at South Shore Hospital for over 30 years, mostly in the Emergency Room on the 3–11 shift, which allowed her to be with her girls during the day. During her time at SSH, she made so many friends—other nurses, doctors, firefighters, and EMTs. Her experiences and relationships with the people she worked with gave her so much joy and happiness—and most of all, more amazing stories and lifelong friends.

Her three daughters were her life. She made sure each of us had what we needed, from schooling to athletics to emotional support. She gave everything she had to raise us with love, understanding, acceptance, and plenty of fun. Michelle also loved going on vacation, from Martha’s Vineyard to the Cayman Islands to Florida and Jamaica. Whether with friends or family, she loved the sunshine, the ocean, and a great tan!

In 1998, Michelle moved to Rexhame, her beloved home. You never knew how the house would look when you arrived—she would move furniture, change out pictures and fixtures, and paint. She was so proud and happy to host holidays, parties, and celebrations at her home.

Michelle would later have three granddaughters, Eleanor, Vivienne, and Olivia, whom she loved immeasurably. Named “Buppy” by Ellie, she loved building Legos, setting up stuffed animals, sky-gazing, and making every moment special.

After bravely and courageously battling neuroendocrine cancer for 16 years, she passed peacefully, surrounded by her girls—just as she had wanted. Michelle leaves behind her three forever-devoted daughters; a loving son-in-law, Bogdan; her three cherished grandchildren; and countless friends and family whom she loved dearly.
