Mildred (Coniaris) Emanuel, 90, died peacefully on April 16, 2023, with her daughters by her side.
Mildred was the daughter of the late George and Stavroula Coniaris. She was the beloved wife of the late James N. Emanuel and the devoted mother of the late Anastasia (Stacie) Emanuel, Kathryn (Kathy) O'Donnell and her husband Chip, Kristina (Tina) Moss and her husband Jonathan, both of Marshfield, and Jamie Boudreau and her husband Greg of Medford.
Mildred cherished her grandchildren, Nicole and her husband Patrick O'Toole, Zachary Boudreau, Sarah Boudreau, Abigail Moss, Jack O'Donnell and Christopher Moss and she found so much delight in her new great granddaughter, Anastasia (Annie) O'Toole. Mildred was the dear sister to the late Pauline Coniaris, William Coniaris, and Ethel Fountas. Mildred also leaves behind her beloved nieces, nephews and extended family, as well as many loving and supporting friends whom she cared for deeply.
Born on January 1, 1933 in Boston, Mildred was a graduate of The Girls Latin School (1950) and graduated first in her class from The Children's Hospital School of Nursing (1954). She was proud of her role as an Operating Room Supervisor at Children's Hospital in Boston and continued her legacy in other nursing and administrative roles until her retirement. In recent years, she took pride in volunteering at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
For over 50 years, she treasured living in Marshfield on the North River; boating, conversing with neighbors, and watching sunsets and found amusement watching the pelicans and counting dolphins off the Marco Island coast.
Known as Millie, Connie, and Nikki to her friends and family, they were the most important aspect of her life. She would light up when someone new walked into the room or called her on the phone. Having a memory that stood the test of time, she always had a story to tell. Constantly asking "what's next on the agenda?", she was ready to socialize. Dining out with friends or family, traveling to Disney World with Jim and the girls, taking in the Blues Festival at Tanglewood, enjoying oysters at the Wellfleet Oyster Fest, seeing the puffins on a cruise in Alaska, and traveling abroad, Millie loved an adventure.
She was a founder and devoted member of the Panagia Greek Orthodox Church in Cohasset.
Millie was kind, loving, caring and passionate and was described by many as their "favorite person" and they lived vicariously through her. She was truly everyone's "YiaYia".
