Obituary

Monique Pesantes Cody, of Duxbury, passed away on March 1, 2018 at the age of 89.  She died suddenly at home.  Beloved mother of Jonathan Cody of Florida and Thomas Cody and his wife Deborah Kylander of Duxbury and grandmother of Samantha, Rebekah, and Sophia, Monique leaves her sisters Janet, Linda, Angela, Norma, and Chantal. She is predeceased by a brother, Jorge.  She is also survived by her longtime friend and companion, Paul Conant, of Whitman.

Born on the Pacific Ocean in Guayaquil, Ecuador, she was the first of her siblings to move to New York City in 1955 where she studied at Columbia University and later worked in graphics and advertising at Socony-Mobil.  She married her former husband, Richard Cody at St. Patrick's Cathedral, then moved to wintery upstate New York where she raised her sons.   She was welcomed to the Boston area by the Blizzard of '78 and has resided here since, moving to the Duxbury to live with her family in the winter of 2017.

She enjoyed watching her granddaughters grow up, having nightly family meals, and getting out with her friend Paul every weekend. She dearly loved her sisters and talked with them regularly.  She was a regular reader of the New Times and was an easy movie date as she loved the cinema.  A God-fearing woman, she attended mass regularly and taught bravery through example.

Funeral services will be private.
