Nancy J. Ellis of Gloucester, formerly of Marshfield, passed away on July 11, 2021 at the age of 78. Beloved daughter of the late Wallace H. and Evelyn B. (Boggs) Ellis, she was the loving mother of Anthony W. Macchi and his wife Kaitlin of Gloucester and Christine Trendell and her husband Brian of Seekonk; cherished grandmother of Vivian Macchi and Elliott, Aidan, and Ellis Trendell; and dear sister of Douglas Ellis (Cleo) of Plympton, Steve Ellis (Cheryl) of Weymouth, Thomas Ellis (Kathy) of Marshfield, Susan Fitzgerald (Robert) of Marshfield, and the late David Ellis.
Nancy was born in Arlington, MA on July 12,1942. She attended and graduated from Marshfeild Schools. Nancy attended Boston City Hospital Nursing School where she graduated from in 1964 with her R.N. Nancy then worked for 35 years as an RN in nursing homes, hospitals, schools and drug rehabilitation clinic, primarily in Gloucester, MA where she lived for over 40 years. She always took pride in and enjoyed her work as an RN.
Nancy was a creative person who enjoyed knitting and sewing. She always looked forward to spending time with her children and grandchildren in her home surrounded by her knick-knacks and pictures of her family and friends. Nancy always remembered birthdays and loved sending birthday cards. She always looked forward to Christmas time and hosting Fourth of July Cookouts in Marshfeild.
Friends and family will remember Nancy as a strong person with nine (or ten, eleven...) lives. She had strength and tenacity throughout her adult life to triumph over and power through innumerable health setbacks.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Congregational Church, 1981 Ocean Street in Marshfield. Interement will be in the Winslow Cemetery, Winslow Cemetery Road in Marshfield.
