Kealey, Nancy Jane (Latneau), 83, of Fort Pierce, Florida, formerly of Cohasset and Marshfield, passed away on December 19, 2015. Born in Houlton, Maine on July 5, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Jane Latneau. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Joseph M. Kealey. Nancy was married to the late William H. White, with whom she had four children, Kathleen White and her husband Jeffery Morris of Marshfield, Bill White and his wife Pam of Pembroke, Elizabeth Pepin and her husband Curtis of Fairhaven, and Susan O'Sullivan and her husband Brian of Marshfield. Nancy was the loving "Grammy" to her seven grandchildren, Kathryn, Nancy, Matthew, Colleen, Kevin, Brendan, and Mary. She looked forward to attending their events any time she came north to visit! Watching the family grow and gather over the years brought Nancy great pride and happiness as she always enjoyed the stories and laughter her children and grandchildren shared.
In her younger years Nancy was an accomplished swimmer, diver, and synchronized swimmer. She was a graduate of North Quincy High School and went on to earn her B.S. Education degree from Tufts University – Boston Bouve College. After her first marriage she settled in Cohasset where she was actively involved in girl scouting, teaching swimming, and supporting many children's programs at the Cohasset Community Center. After a brief tenure teaching at Derby Academy, Nancy spent the next 35 years as a Physical Education teacher for the Cohasset Public Schools at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Nancy introduced the first "Field Day" program at the Joseph Osgood Elementary School. Nancy's day didn't end with the closing school bell. She would bundle up and hit the fields, coaching hundreds of high school field hockey, basketball, and softball teams throughout the years. Her commitment to her students had her outside on the field or on the courts from September until June. Only in her later years did she take a break during the winter season. She loved the kids and the coaching but not the long bus rides home, which made for many late nights with her young family. Her teams loved their "Coach Kealey" and were usually highly competitive, including a few undefeated field hockey teams. Always the coach, she taught her four children a love for sports, and she enjoyed the opportunity to see them compete throughout their high school and college athletic careers. Nancy moved with her family to Marshfield in 1973. It was clear to all who knew Nancy that the summer months not spent in school, rather lounging on Rexhame Beach, were her favorite. There wasn't a sunny day that she couldn't be found way down on the beach, away from the crowds, with her lounge chair and her book.
After spending more than a few February school vacations in Ocean Ridge, Florida, Nancy and Joe retired to the sunshine and serenity of North Hutchison Island, FL. In retirement she enjoyed annual trips to Aruba with friends, numerous cruises to the Caribbean, gambling and shows in Las Vegas, and other travel. A couple of her favorite trips were a Hawaiian cruise and a memorable trip to Ireland. She gave golfing a try with her Florida friends, always hoping to improve her game. Nancy was an avid Boston sports fan, especially the Red Sox, and traveled to Ft. Myers spring training games for many years.
Nancy loved food, fun, friends and the sun! She was a great cook, loved her daily walks on the beach, taking water aerobics at the pool, and relaxing with a good book on the condo balcony. The ocean brought her comfort and joy for many years.
Nancy will be happily remembered by all.
