Nancy Wilson, 88, of Marshfield, formerly of Everett, MA, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 25, 1937, in Everett, Massachusetts, to Arthur Tarbox and Anna (Prendergast) Tarbox.

Nancy met the love of her life, James Eugene Wilson, on the Fourth of July in 1952. The couple married in April 1957 and later settled in Marshfield in 1966, where they raised their family.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, always placing her family at the center of her life.

Nancy is survived by her children: Dianne Dakowicz (John) of Washington, New Hampshire; Kelly Shanley (Steve Fauntleroy) of Plymouth and Sarasota, Florida; and James Wilson, Jr. (Patti) of Edgewater, Florida.

She was the proud grandmother of eight: Gabriel Dakowicz (Amanda) of Portsmouth, New Hampshire; Emily and Gregory Shanley of Marshfield; Caleb Wilson (Maddie) of Chesterton, Indiana; Haylee (Wilson) Biggs (Jonathan) of Hobart, Indiana; Molly (Wilson) Putchaven (Gavin) of Chicago, Illinois; Bryan Healy of Hanover; and Samantha Flynn of Dorchester.

Nancy also leaves behind her beloved great-grandchildren: Eloise, Penelope, Julianne, and Maxine Wilson of Chesterton, Indiana; Brayden and Brooks Healy of Hanover; and Madison Flynn of Dorchester.

She shared a special bond with her nieces, Ann Shanley (Bill) of Sanibel Island, Florida, and Marshfield, and Amy Prouty (Steve) of Marshfield, as well as her son-in-law, Edward Shanley of Marshfield.

Nancy was recently predeceased by her husband James E. Wilson of Marshfield and predeceased by her sister, Gertrude (Shackleton) Hayes of Marshfield, and her brother, Paul Tarbox of Hull.

Following her graduation from Everett High School in 1955, Nancy began her career at Melpar Research in Watertown. She later held a managerial role at Boston Filter Inc. before dedicating herself to family life. Over the years, she returned to the workforce, contributing her talents to Mariner Newspapers, Mariner Print Shop, and Realtron Publishing in management roles.

Nancy was deeply involved in her community. She served as co-chair of the Marshfield Bicentennial Breakfast, was a board member of CURA Visiting Nurse of Plymouth and The Historic Winslow House and contributed as a director of the Marshfield 350th Celebration. She also served on the board of the Massachusetts Mayflower Society. Among her proudest accomplishments was being a founding school board member of Pudding Hill Preschool in Marshfield.

A longtime member of Marshfield United Methodist Church, Nancy later became a deacon at North Community Church in North Marshfield, where she served on numerous committees.

Known for her kindness, generosity, and loving spirit, Nancy will be remembered as a remarkable woman who touched many lives and always put her family first.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 12 Noon at the North Community Church, 72 Old Main Street in Marshfield Hills.
