Damiano, Nicholas R., of Marshfield, passed away on September 30, 2017 at the age of 82. Beloved husband of the late Gerda (Sixt) Damiano, Nicholas leaves his children, Susan Perry and her husband Randy and Deborah Damiano, all of Natick, and grandchildren Alexandra and Michael Perry and Kristin Damiano; a sister, Norma McCabe, and several nieces and nephews and great friends.

Nicholas was born in Providence, RI and grew up in Boston.  After graduating from Brighton High School, he joined the Army and made a career proudly serving his country.  His 20 years of service included a tour of duty in Vietnam for which he received the Bronze Star for his heroism completing many aerial missions in combat territory.   He also received the Army Air Medal and the Army Commendation medal.

Upon retiring from the Army, Nick spent 20 years working for the US Postal Service before fully retiring.

Nick loved his family more than anything and enjoyed spending time gardening, boating, fishing, and clam digging, often proudly filling his basket.  We were so lucky to have spent the last year with him after his brain cancer diagnosis.  In spite of his illness, he was always in good spirits and had a smile on his face, he looked at the bright side of everything, and he was always so eager to help anyone no matter the need.  He found joy serving others and was the life of every get together.  He cherished his family and friends and he looked at each day as a gift.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139), Marshfield. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
