Obituary

Nicole Orella Bongiolatti, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend died on May, 30, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 25th, 1979 in Kansas City, Missouri, Nicole grew up in Middletown, New Jersey, becoming a town favorite through her ardent strength and constant inspiration. Born with Spina Bifida, Nicole never let that or any other obstacle stop her from living a sensational life.

At 10 years old, a chance encounter and a frank opinion, a much-admired hallmark of Nicole, led her to be the inspiration for Challenged Youth Sports, an organization that allows children with special needs to play sports by pairing them with a buddy. From then on, she was an active participant in multiple sports through the program. Now called Rally Cap Sports, the organization is about to celebrate its 30 year anniversary.

Nicole was also a music lover who attended Broadway shows in New York City every Christmas season for most of her life and was also a member of the St. Catherine's Church Choir.

Nicole attended Middletown High School South where she was a member of the track and field program, the theater and chorus programs, as well as Homecoming Queen her senior year. Nicole then spent 17 years in Pittsburgh, PA, living independently - just another feat that she accomplished despite being told it would be impossible. While living in Pittsburgh, Nicole spent her time volunteering at the Children's Museum and a local pet shelter and became an avid Steelers fan. She spent the last few years of her life as a resident of Hingham, MA where she became a regular at her favorite restaurant, Alma Nove.

Nicole is survived by her loving parents Lee and Catherine, siblings James Bongiolatti and his wife Susan, Daniel Bongiolatti and his wife Bonnie, Kate Gallagher and her husband Kane, Courtney Bongiolatti and her wife Lauren Golfer, along with seven nieces and nephews; Samantha, Thomas, Jameson, Santo, Powers, Rowan and Evelyn. She also leaves behind her loving cat Honey, who was always at her side or riding around on her wheelchair with her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rally Cap Sports at www.rallycapsports.org. Additionally, do something today that you didn't think you had the strength for - as Nicole did, each and every day she was on this earth.

Private services will be held at a future date.
