O'Brien, Norman F. of Marshfield, MA formerly of Brighton, MA passed away peacefully on September 26, 2019. He was 87. Norman was born in Brighton, son of Delia (Stanton) and Martin O'Brien both of Ireland. He was the loving and cherished husband of Mary Louise (Welch) for 63 years. Devoted father of Corinne Wilson of Norwood, Carol Jones and her husband Scott of Hanson and Norman Jr and his wife Nancy of Needham. Loving Papa of Sarah Wilson Gallagher, Shannon Wilson, Jack O'Brien, Dylan and Molly Jones. Loving brother of Mary Burke of Walpole, the late John O'Brien and Joseph O'Brien.
Norman raised his family in Brighton and spent summers at Rexhame Beach in Marshfield where he eventually retired. He was a graduate of Brighton High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and reported to Camp Lejeune in 1950. He went on to achieve the rank of Sergeant and served on board the USS Sarasota in the South Pacific during the Korean Conflict. He worked for 40 years as a heavy hauler for Teamsters Local 379 (now Local 25) in Boston.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Ann by the Sea Catholic Church, 591 Ocean Street, Marshfield on Tuesday October 1, 2019 at 11am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, September 30, 2019 from 4pm-8pm at the MacDonald Funeral Home at 1755 Ocean Street, Marshfield. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in his memory to U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, Toys for Tots Program at https://www.toysfortots.org/
