Normand R.Tougas of Duxbury, MA passed away unexpectedly on August 28, 2021. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 57 years Anne M (Walsh) Tougas. Beloved father to James R. Tougas and wife Michelle of Plympton, Jeffrey S. Tougas and wife Angela of Exeter, NH, Jon C. Tougas and wife Karen of Marshfield, and Jennifer A. Theran and husband Gregory of Plymouth. Devoted and loving grandpa to Robbie, Nick, Frances, Jacob, Ben, Andie, Chloe, Catie and Maggie. Normand was preceded in death by his siblings Roger Tougas, Constance Doody, and George Tougas.
Normand was born on February 14, 1943 in Brockton, MA, the third child to Clarence Joseph Tougas and Blanche Margaret (Gadoury) Tougas. He attended Coyle-Cassidy High School, graduating class of 1961 and went on to Niagara University in New York.
Normand took pride in the 23 years he served in the Army Air National Guard, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1995. He was a Salesman for many years in his family business, Brockton Cutting Die and Machine, and went on to pursue a lifelong dream of joining the Duxbury Police Force.
Normand had a love for the beach which began when he was a child who spent his summers at their family home on Duxbury Beach. He enjoyed the ocean throughout his lifetime boating with his brothers, sons, friends and nephew throughout the years. Norm was an avid New England Patriots Fan and thoroughly enjoyed watching them play and win over the years. He is a proud American who loved to study US History and honored our armed forces whenever he had the opportunity. He was a member of the Duxbury American Legion serving as Post Commander for a period of time. He was part of their color guard marching in the annual 4th of July parade and taking part in honoring the fallen on Memorial Day.
A Funeral Service for Normand will take place at Holy Family Church in Duxbury on Friday, September 10th at 10:00 AM. In ieu of Flowers the family is asking any donations be made to the New England Medical Group, 220 Whiting Street Suite 7, Hingham, MA 02043.
