In Loving Memory
Patricia Helene (Creagh) McCormack passed away at the Cape Heritage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Sandwich, MA on Thursday, July 27, 2023. She was 84. Born in Bridgeport, CT on November 3, 1938, she attended Warren Harding High School and was a majorette and homecoming queen. She also sang and acted in her school's production of the Pirates of Penzance. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in education from the University of Connecticut.
She married Arthur William McCormack on July 20, 1968, and she taught 7th Grade Social Studies at the Ellington Middle School in Ellington, CT for 47 years before retiring and continuing to substitute teach for several more years. Prior to retirement, she found herself teaching the grandchildren of some of her first students. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping, and she managed to have for just about every purchase at least one coupon and sometimes two or more. She is fondly remembered for her pleasant personality and kindness to all, and she always spoke of her family with great devotion and affection.
She is survived by Arthur McCormack; her son, Fr. James McCormack, MIC; her daughter, Kelly (Ryan) Murray; her grandchildren, Reilly, Kasey and Rowan Murray; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, a great-grandniece and a great-grandnephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen Creagh; and her brother William (Diane) Creagh.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury, MA, with Fr. James McCormack presiding. Prior to the Mass, there will be a viewing at the church, starting at 9:30 a.m. Following the funeral liturgy, Patricia's mortal remains will be laid to rest nearby at the Mayflower Cemetery, 774 Tremont Street, Duxbury. All are welcome to attend the viewing, Mass and burial.
