Patricia Anne Shafto (née Monahan), of Kingston, longtime resident of Marshfield, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2018, from complications due to Alzheimer's disease and cancer. She was the widow of James T. Shafto, and is survived by a large, loving family, including brother Charles Monahan and girlfriend Diane O'Keefe of Dorchester, brother Hubert Monahan & wife Kathy of Hanson, sister Margaret Roffey & husband Tommy of Marshfield, son Patrick Shafto & wife Carissa & children Kemble and Monroe, of Newark, NJ, son Daniel Shafto & wife Katherine, of Minneapolis, MN, son James Shafto & wife Kathy, of Kinshasa, DRC & children James and wife, Maggie, Robert and fiance, Nicolette, and Madeleine, daughter Jill Turner & husband Gerald & children Adam and Lydia, of Elizabeth City, NC, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Pat worked hard her whole life, first to help raise her three siblings, and eventually to raise her children. Among other occupations, she worked as a Paralegal and as an Administrative Assistant for IBEW Local 103.
She loved to help people and volunteered countless hours for Sowing Seeds clothing bank in Marshfield, and for St. Christine's parish as a CCD teacher, Bereavement Facilitator, raffle organizer, and many other roles. In 2013, she received the Bishop Cheverus award from Cardinal O'Malley for her distinguished service to St. Christine's Church.
Pat also loved walking with friends, spending time with family, playing whist, drinking tea, swimming, and watching the Red Sox and Patriots.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. the at MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St. (Rte. 139), Marshfield, Funeral services will be held Monday, February 19, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. in St. Christine's Church, 1295 Main St. (Rte. 3A), Marshfield, immediately followed by a short ceremony at the burial site, Couch Memorial Cemetery, Union St., Marshfield.
