Obituary

Stappen, Patricia A. (Kelly) of Plymouth, formerly of Marshfield, passed away on June 30, 2021 at the age of 78. Beloved wife, sister, mother, Nana, and friend, "Pat" was surrounded by her family throughout a brief illness. For 57 years she shared her life with her cherished husband, the late Arthur Stappen. Together they built a wonderful life in Marshfield where they raised their three children Arthur, Laurie, and Dawn. Pat leaves behind her son Arthur and his wife Emily of Marshfield, her daughter Laurie Gates and her husband Gary of Plymouth, and her daughter Dawn Gorman and her husband Charlie of Plymouth. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren: Alexis and Jessica Stappen, Alyssa, Joshua, Jacob and Justin Gates, and Sydney and Kevin Gorman. Her grandchildren loved and cherished her very much. Pat also leaves behind her brother Fred of RI, her sister Donna of Ft. Myers, her brother Rich and his wife Fran of Sierra Vista, her brother Ron and his wife Judy of Marshfield, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother Bill of Marshfield.

Patricia was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia to the late Mary (Bates) and William Kelly. Her family emigrated to the U.S. from Canada in 1956, where they began their life in Dorchester. Later on in 1968, Pat and Arthur moved their family to Marshfield where they raised their children and spent many happy years. Pat was always devoted to her family. She volunteered for as many opportunities as she could. She was a long term CCD teacher for St. Ann's Parish, a Girl Scout leader, and classroom mom for many classrooms throughout her children's upbringing. She continued her family devotion as a big part of her grandchildren's lives. For over 25 years, Pat was a waitress at Poopsie's Restaurant in Pembroke, all while being a devoted wife and mother. She will be missed forever by those who knew her.
