Obituary

Paul Furlong Kearns, 88, of Derry New Hampshire, and formerly of Needham, passed away on October 6, 2021. He was born on October 19, 1933, son of the late Alice and William Kearns of Needham. Paul graduated from Needham High School in 1952 where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He enlisted in the Marine Corps shortly after graduating, completed basic training at Paris Island and was later deployed to Japan and Korea. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Navy Occupation Medal, National Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal.

Paul was an avid sports fan and loved nothing more than to sit in his favorite chair and watch a game. He loved to watch his grandchildren play sports, occasionally bringing a portable TV to the football field so he wouldn't miss the Pats. He knew an impressive amount of stats and could always tell you who was predicted to win the game. He was always quick with a joke to lighten the mood and had quite the laugh. He will be truly missed.

Paul is predeceased by his siblings, Mary Charlotte (Kearns) Kothman, Norman Kearns, Virginia (Kearns) Kelly, and Marilyn Claire (Kearns) McAllister. Left to cherish his memory is his loving son Paul Furlong Kearns Jr. and Patricia Kearns of Marshfield; grandchildren, Alison, Tyler and Jeff Kearns; siblings Barbara (Kearns) Barr, Richard Kearns, and James Kearns; and a host of nieces and nephews including Julie Robert and her husband Scott Robert.
