Kelley, Paul H., of Marshfield, formerly of Brighton, passed away on April 15, 2017 at the age of 86. Paul is the beloved husband of Colette 'Claire' (Nash) Kelley and dear father of Colette McLaughlin and her husband Frank, of Dover, MA, and Paul H. Kelley, Jr., and his longtime companion Danielle Hooley of Plymouth. Paul leaves his grandchildren, Kayla and Camille McLaughlin, and his sisters, Nancy McGowan of Attleboro and Julie McHugh, and her husband Frank of Del Ray Beach, Florida, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by siblings William P. Kelley, Jr., Klare Borowski, John J. Kelley, and Adele Gibney.
Paul was a 30-year veteran of the Boston Police Department and was awarded the Walter Schroeder Medal for Valor. Prior to this he served with the U.S. Army Wolfhounds during the Korean Conflict, where he earned a Combat Infantry Badge. Paul continued service to his country and comrades as Past Commander of the DAV Chapter 35 in Marshfield. Paul was a voracious reader who always enjoyed sharing a "quick story" with a lending ear. He loved gardening, and adored spending time with his cherished granddaughters, Kayla and Camille.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) Marshfield. Funeral procession will depart the funeral home on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Paul will be laid to rest in a Graveside Service with Military Honors in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 11:30 a.m.
