(Jackovitch) McDonough, loving husband of 47 years to Patricia M. (Horodiski) McDonough, loving father of Susan M. (Stephen) Moran of Pembroke, Michael M. McDonough of New York, adoring grandfather of Samantha and Sarina Moran, and brother of Peter J. (Joyce) McDonough of Foxboro.
Paul grew up in Roslindale, and was a proud graduate of Boston Latin ('55) and Tufts University ('59). He served in the Army from 1960 to 1963, and was stationed in West Germany for 18 months monitoring Czech military transmissions. On leave, he toured Europe driving his white Triumph Spitfire convertible.
Starting his career in Human Resources with Aetna in 1963, Paul also worked for Commercial Union, and ARC/AMS in Syracuse, New York City, Montreal, Atlanta, and Boston. As a franchisee of Norrell Temporary Services, he personally established and managed the Weymouth office. He retired as Employment Manager for Rockland Trust in 2005.
Paul was active in organizations including Young Republicans, Jaycees, South Shore Chamber of Commerce, and SCORE. He served as Chair of the Duxbury Personnel Board. As a local business columnist and co-host of a cable business show, Paul presented topical issues such as sexual harassment in a practical, down-to-earth manner.
Paul's adventurous activities included skydiving, running the Long Island Newsday marathon in under four hours, whitewater rafting, cross-country skiing, and hiking. He took great interest in the stewardship of the Feinberg Bog near his home. He left his family with a passionate curiosity, a lifelong interest in education, and a commitment to community service.
