Raymond Edward Burke, Jr., 80, of Middleboro, Massachusetts, passed away surrounded by his loving family during the evening of February 27th.
Born in Waltham, Massachusetts, he was the son of Raymond Edward Burke and Mary Burke. Raymond spent many years in Braintree, Massachusetts, where he and his wife raised their family before later residing in Marshfield and Middleboro.
Ray was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 47 years, Barbara C. Burke (Rogers). Together they built a large and loving family that was the center of his life. A hardworking man, Ray was a painter by trade and took pride in his craftsmanship and the honest living he provided for his family.
A devout Catholic, his faith was an important and guiding force throughout his life. He lived with strong values, quiet strength, and deep love for his family. Ray was a co-founder of Medjugorje in America, along with Rose Palano and Ralph Rogers, a religious, non-profit organization based on the messages and teachings of “Our Blessed Mother”.
Ray enjoyed watching baseball, football, and basketball, and nothing brought him more joy than gathering his family together. He was especially known for hosting spirited family softball games with Barbara, creating memories that will be cherished.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses: Ted and Pam Burke of Braintree; Phyllis Hughes of New Bedford; Patrick and Stacey Burke of Tewksbury; Joseph and Leanne Burke of Scituate; Alan and Khate Williamson of Plymouth; Mary and Mark Toomey of Middleboro; Ted and JuYoung Williamson of Scituate; and Tim and Kim Williamson of Marshfield.
He was a proud and loving grandfather to Keke, Raya, Madison, Teddy, Katie, Matthew, John, Connor, Sean, Drew, Daniel, Ava, Jake, Ian, Logan, Haley, Angie, Timmy, Crystal, Ashley, and Dylan, and great-grandfather to Hunter. His grandchildren were one of his greatest joys, and he treasured the time spent with them.
Ray will be remembered for his steady presence, unwavering faith, strong work ethic, and deep devotion to his family.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
