Raymond S. Niedowski of Marshfield, MA passed away peacefully at home on December 11, 2024 with his wife of 57 years, Marion Niedowski at his side.

Born in 1942 to Frank and Helen Niedowski, Ray grew up in Greenpoint, Brooklyn with his sister, Barbara Judge. A graduate of Bishop Loughlin High School, he received an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and an M.S. Degree in Urban Transportation Planning from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn.  He worked for many years at Tippets-Abbett-McCarthy & Stratton in New York City then joined Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Consulting Engineers and Planners in Boston in 1984 where he was an Associate of the firm and Transportation Department Head.  He was selected Transportation Engineer of The Year in 1986 by the New England section of the ITE.

Ray was a loving husband and father of two daughters, Nancy of Albany, N.Y. (spouse Don) and Erika (deceased in 2020) and grandfather to Violet Welsh. Ray and his wife travelled extensively over the years visiting more than 85 countries for which he did a personal writeup for each, but also wrote travel articles, short stories and even a novel.  He loved to play the piano, to play pickleball with his many friends and took beautiful photographs of his many activities and travels.
