CHANGE OF TIME
Richard A. Marsh, 80 years old, went to be with his Lord Jesus on February 19, 2016. Rick, to those who knew him, was the son of Robert and Charlotte (Healy) Marsh of Weston MA. He was raised in Manomet and attended Plymouth schools, leaving in the 10th grade to join the U.S. Marines and served from 1952 to 1956, with two years in Korea, and was honorably discharged.
Married to Lucille (Mossey) for 34 years and residing mostly in Marshfield, he attended the Victory Baptist Church in Brant Rock. While in Marshfield, Rick worked at Estes Auto Parts and South Shore Auto Parts, then worked Security at the N.E. School of Law in Boston. Previous to these, he worked 16 years for American Airlines in Boston and Ohio.
Rick was known for his great energy and enthusiasm, positive attitude, wonderful sense of humor and an abundance of uplifting and funny stories. He fought a great battle for 10 years with kidney failure, CHF, and COPD, which sapped his strength but he did it all with a positive attitude, which was his nature, and with a joyful spirit.
In addition to his wife he leaves his step daughters Jackie Wenhold of Corpus Christie, TX, Jeanne Vento of Plymouth, and April Leonard of Manomet. He was "Papa" to 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, and also leaves his nieces and one nephew.
As per his wishes, Rick's body was donated to the Boston University School of Medicine. His ashes will be interred in Manomet Cemetery at a later date.
Many thanks from the family to South Shore Hospital, Hospice of the South Shore, DaVita Dialysis of South Weymouth, and especially Dr. Rajinda Chawla, to whom Lucille and the family will be eternally grateful for his sensitivity and expertise.
Visiting hours with the family will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 3:00 to 4:30 and will conclude with a Memorial Service at 4:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Rick's name be made to the American Kidney Foundation or to the American Lung Association.
