May, Richard D. Sr., beloved husband of Norine (Pokaski) died suddenly on January 21, 2016 at the age of 63. Loving father of Richard Jr. of Duxbury, Bryan and his wife, Cattleya of Norwell, Stephanie Lane and her husband Kieran of Pembroke, and Gregory May of Duxbury. Adored Grandfather of Greyson, Emmelyn and Brady Lane and Lilah May. Loving son of Norma May of Norwell & the late James May. Loving brother of Thomas, Daniel, Billy, Peter, Donald, Michael, and sister Joan McDonnell. Richard is also survived by many loving sister-in laws, brother in-laws and nieces and nephews.

Richard grew up in Dorchester and graduated from Don Bosco Technical High School in 1971. He began his career in the garment industry in Boston and in 1981, founded a successful family-run business manufacturing plus-sized women's clothing. Richard and his loving wife Norine settled in Duxbury 1977 and raised their family there. He was an avid Boston sports fan and especially loved Fenway Park and the Red Sox, always believing in their World Series quest before it was a reality. As a long time member of Marshfield Country Club, Richard had a passion for the game of golf, and enjoyed many days playing with those he loved.

Richard will be missed by not only his loving family and friends but by all
who were lucky enough to experience his gregarious, larger than life personality and unflinching generosity.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street, Rte. 139, Marshfield. Funeral from the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, for a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury. Interment will be in Mayflower Cemetery.
