Murphy, Richard J., of Marshfield, passed away on March 20, 2017 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of the late Viola (Collins) Murphy, Richard leaves his children Richard Murphy of Marshfield, Matthew Murphy and his wife Tina of Hampden, Mark Murphy and his wife Susan of Abington, Brian Murphy of Rockland, Jason Murphy and is wife Dari of Pembroke; grandchildren Matthew, Samantha, Ryan, and Adam. Richard also leaves his brothers, Kevin Murphy and Jimmy Murphy and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was born in Newton to the late John A. and Mary F. (Clarke) Murphy. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and worked as an Inspector for the U.S, Department of Agriculture.  He loved fishing and lobstering in Marshfield and Scituate. Richard enjoyed riding his bike and was an avid swimmer.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) Marshfield. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
