Obituary

Richard (Rick) Kedski, Jr., passed away peacefully in the Plymouth home he shared with his wife of 32 years Catherine (Murphy) Kedski, on May 28, 2023.

Rick, born in March of 1959, was the son of Elaine Kedski and the late Richard Kedski, Sr., and was the brother of Patricia Pratt and Robert Kedski. Rick grew up in Millis, MA and often shared fond memories that included childhood friends, family camping trips and dirt bikes.

Rick and Cathy met in 1989 and were married in 1991. Although never blessed with children of their own, Rick's happiest times were those that involved his nephew Justin Lancione, who he looked upon as the son he never had. He loved sharing his skills and technical knowledge of all things big and small with Justin. Building a shed with Justin when he was barely big enough to hold a hammer was one of his earliest and most cherished memories.

Rick loved an adventure and was happiest in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, his idea of heaven. He loved taking Justin and his twin sister Andrea on weekend trips to Indian Head resort year after year. Others were always invited to join in but Justin and Andrea were always part of the adventure. He never missed a trip to Zebb's general store while in New Hampshire and could often be found sitting on a bench out front enjoying a bag of fruit slices. Rick and Cathy also enjoyed spending time at their seasonal camper in Freedom NH. Rick was known for his ingenuity and in his late 40s was probably the only person that age to make a fake ID that made him older than he was to secure a spot at the 50+ campground. Rick could fix anything and was often the go-to guy when someone needed his expertise. McGyver had nothing on Rick, that's for sure.

Rick was known to never pass up an invite to an oyster bar or an afternoon of steamers and corn on the cob. He had a lifelong love affair with big trucks, sour pickles and a good can of Spam. He wasn't quite as fond of his wife's cooking, formal attire, or healthy eating.

Rick made friends wherever he went and was known for his great sense of humor and quick wit. Rick loved to entertain and was very proud of his annual Christmas party where he always ordered way too much Chinese food so everyone could take home the leftovers.

In addition to those already mentioned Rick leaves behind many friends and relatives too numerous to mention by name. The Amazon delivery drivers will surely miss his daily greeting on the doorstep as he anxiously awaited the arrival of his latest purchase; anything from 10 pounds of gummy bears to 17 identical pairs of navy blue sweatpants. As long as it came with overnight delivery, he was up for the purchase.

In typical Rick fashion, who always found wakes and funerals too sad, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Oysters and steamers will likely be served.

In lieu of flowers friends and relatives are encouraged to donate to their local animal shelter. In rick's memory everyone is asked to laugh a little more, love a little more, and live a little more.
