Rita was a devoted wife who celebrated 51 years of marriage to Edward Callahan Sr. before his passing. What a fabulous 50th anniversary party they had!
She was a devoted Mother and Grandmother who enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren. She looked forward to summer vacations with her daughter and husband, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, who lived out of state.
In younger years Rita enjoyed cooking, especially baking, and her brownie recipe was the best!
Rita was a devout Catholic who had a deep devotion to The Blessed Mother. Rita said The Holy Rosary daily, as well as saying daily prayers, for her deceased relatives and friends whose prayer cards she had saved. Rita passed away on January 1st which is the Catholic Feast Day of The Solemnity of Mary, Holy Mother of God. No coincidences with God!
Rita celebrated The New Year with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, The Blessed Mother, our Dad, and recently departed brother, Larry; as well as many other family members. Mom you will be forever in our hearts! Give Dad and our brother, Larry, a kiss from us. We miss you already!!
Mom always donated to the VFW so in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VFW at vfw.org
