Obituary

Rita Govostes passed away peacefully Jan 23, 2023. Wife of the late Arthur Govostes, she lived in Belmont for many years. She lived at Benchmark in Woburn the last year of her life. She and her husband enjoyed summers in Falmouth along with her sisters and their families.

Rita was especially proud of her many nieces and nephews, growing to love their wives and children as the families grew over the years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and her sisters, Anna, Mary, Eileen and Dottie whether to the islands or Florida in the winters. Or to the village and farm her loving Mother and Auntie Anna left behind to start a new life in America. Rita is survived by her sister Eileen McShane of Newton. Predeceased by her brothers Austin Gannon and John Gannon, sisters Anne Deasy of Arlington, Mary Bradley of Belmont and Dottie Biotti of Newton

Rita worked for many years as a waitress, and at the end of every day she would visit her mother along with her sister Mary. Always a twinkle in her eyes, her sense of humor brought joy to all that knew her. The fun-loving Aunt, she will be dearly missed.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 31 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann by the Sea Parish Church, 591 Ocean Street in Marshfield. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne
