Rita Dean Thompson of Marshfield passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the age of 67.  Beloved mother of Aidan Thompson and his wife Alanna of Norton and grandmother of Macy Rose and Charlotte Ann, Rita leaves her siblings Kenneth Lennon and his wife Bunni of South Carolina, Mary Iacobucci and her husband John of West Wareham, Paula Fine and her husband Marshall of Marshfield, Peter Moraites and his wife Sheila of North Carolina, Michael Moraites of Whitman, and John Moraites and his wife Maria of Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a sister, Karen McDonald.

Rita was born in Dorchester MA in the spring of 1951.  She was the second daughter and third child in a large family of 8 children.  She attended Randolph High School where she graduated in 1969.  As a young woman, Rita discovered a deep passion for music and art.  She explored her creative side, channeling her art through various crafts, creative writing, drawings and poetry.  Rita had a curious mind, and an endless desire to understand her spiritual self, and find her place in the world.  She was always in search of new ideas, and eager to share her discoveries with those closest to her.  In December of 1980, she gave birth to her only child Aidan, and along with her sister Paula and "second son", nephew Michael John, moved to Middleboro where the four would live as a family for the next decade.  In December of 2015, Rita became the grandmother of twin girls Macy & Charlie who she loved very much.  Next to being a mother and grandmother, Rita's true calling in this world was to be a lover and caregiver to all types of animals.  She fostered and adopted many different pets throughout the years, including her beloved cat Lovey Dovey who was the dearest of them all, and there with her to her last day.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) in Marshfield.
