Rita A. Tougas (Pelland), of Duxbury, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2017 at the age of 96 surrounded by her family and caregivers. Beloved wife of the late Paul E. Tougas, Rita leaves her children Joseph C. Tougas of Abington, Paul R. Tougas of Roswell, GA, John H. Tougas of West Palm Beach, FL, David M. Tougas of Quincy, MA, and Claudette Batignani of Kennebunk, ME.  Rita is the cherished grandmother of Jennifer, Paul, Kristen, Holly, and Jessica, and to 10 great-grandchildren. She devoted her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, and her family. Rita was the consummate homemaker and enjoyed cooking for family and friends, reading, gardening, and crocheting.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) in Marshfield. Funeral procession from the funeral home on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Canal Street, Marshfield.  Burial will be private.
