Robert A. Anzalone, 82, of Marshfield, passed away November 16, 2022 unexpectedly, surrounded by his loving family.
Robert was born in Boston to Louis and Martha Anzalone of Jamaica Plain. He was a 1958 Graduate of JP High school and after graduation he enlisted in the Coast Guard. He was also a retired Electrician for the MBTA in Everett.
Robert possessed several names throughout his life. Some knew him as Robbie, Bob, Bobby, Bones, but the one that stuck the most was "Grinky".
Little did he know when he met the love of his life at the young age of 5. Georgette (aka Muffin or Nina) conveniently lived across the street on Glen Road. In 1962 they were married and went on to have five children. Lisa, Michael, Paul, Laura and Rob, eventually landing in Marshfield as their forever home enabled him to be close to his favorite place… the ocean. Being out at sea he found peace, especially at sunrise. Throughout the years fishing, he made some life-long friends and really enjoyed his Sunday morning coffee with the Belsan Bait and Tackle crew.
His home was his sanctuary. Over the years he became an avid gardener and would spend countless hours puttering around the yard. Despite his awkward ways of showing his feelings, family was the most important thing to him. Beneath the hard outer shell, he was a warm, kind soul with a huge heart that could talk a cat off a fish truck.
When grandchildren were added to the gang he was thrilled. (Caitlyn, Jake, Meagan, Michael and Robbie). That is when he became known as "Grinky" or "Gicky".
Nothing made him happier than being with the love of his life, Georgette. She became "Nina", and from that point Nina and Grinky enjoyed their days near the ocean or working together on their yard. Grinky thoroughly enjoyed family cookouts, parades or anything that involved seafood and was famous for under-cooking holiday meals causing a panic.
He will be sorely missed by all.
Robert was predeceased by his parents Louis and Martha Anzalone, brother Richard Anzalone, daughter Lisa Costello. He is survived by wife Georgette, his children, Michael and Paul Anzalone of Marshfield, Laura and fiancé Chuck Carafoli of Plymouth, Rob and wife Tracy Anzalone of Plymouth, son in law, Jack Costello of Plymouth Grandchildren, Caitlyn and her husband Jason McGrath, of Plymouth, Jake Costello of Plymouth, Meagan Crossman of Los Angeles, CA, Michael Crossman of Newton, NH, and Robbie Anzalone of Plymouth, and the wonderful neighbors of Heather Hill Drive.
