Robert (Jake #3)) Bonney, 87, of Marshfield, passed away on August 14, 2026 at South Shore Hospital after a brief illness.
A man of honesty and integrity, Bob loved his family, home and community. As a youngster he told his parents he never wanted to leave home, and he didn't, living in the same house his entire life. As a child growing up in a small house with his parents and five brothers and sisters, it was at times chaotic but left them all with wonderful memories and a bond that lasted a lifetime.
Sunday cookouts became a weekly tradition of good food and good times, along with Bonney family card games that they had all grown up with. As a competitive group their poker games could get a little contentious, but Bob always seemed to have a knack for coming away with more than he started with.
Along with Jon Chandler and Kevin Williams he owned Precision Electronics Corp. in Marshfield. Endowed with the Bonney work ethic and having a great staff of employees, their success was the result of long hours and resulted in many lasting friendships.
A tried and true Red Sox and Patriots fan he was looking forward to the coming season. And was still holding on to his ticket stub ($8.00) from the first game at Schaefer stadium on August 15, 1971.
Son of the late Wilfred, Jr. and Gladys (Adams) Bonney, he was predeceased by brothers Wilfred, III (Jake #1) and Albert (Jake #2) and sisters Priscilla Tucker and Jean Shurtleff. Sadly leaving behind the love of his life Margaret (Marcy) and his sister Jacqueline Hamilton, along with a wonderfully supportive group of nieces and nephews and a best friend and blood brother, Tom Travers of Tiverton RI.
Bob was a trusted friend - kind and generous - and if he could express some final wishes it would be that you be loyal to your family and friends, respect others, resolve petty grievances and make the world a better place with a kind word or deed. You could make someone's day a little brighter.
At his request there will be no services.
