Burns, Robert G., of Marshfield, passed away on August 11, 2017 at the age of 79.  Beloved husband of Cynthia 'Cindy' Baumann Burns and dear father of Allison Burns of Boston, Robert 'Scott' Burns of Marshfield, Christine (Burns) and her husband Dave Hutchinson of Waltham, Lynda (Burns) and her husband Brian Connell of Whitman, and Deborah (Burns) and her husband Leonard Paoletta of Abington. Bob leaves his siblings Bill Burns and his wife Grace of Hampton, NH and Frank Burns and his wife Marnie of Holbrook, and his grandchildren, Leonard Paoletta, III, Chloe Paoletta, Marissa Connell, and Joseph Hutchinson.

Bob was a graduate of Northeastern University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He moved to Marshfield in 1984 and enjoyed a 30+ year career as a Professional Engineer in Quality Engineering with Stone & Webster Engineering/Shaw Group. Bob took great pride in his work and served as past President of the American Society of Quality Control, Energy Division, and on the Main Committee of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, in addition to holding Professional Memberships with numerous organizations.  Bob also served as a former Commodore for the Squantum Yacht Club.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) in Marshfield. The funeral procession will depart the funeral home on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Canal Street, Marshfield. Burial will be in the Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury
