Robert F. Cheesman, 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Left to cherish the memories are his wife Ellen C. (Smith) Cheesman, his sons Scott Cheesman (Laura) and Robert Cheesman (Maureen), his daughters Coleen Rapoza and Deborah (Cheesman) Brilliant (Scott), his sister Alice (Cheesman) O'Connell. Robert was preceded in death by his parents John and Kathleen (Mulrey) Cheesman and his brothers John Cheesman and Lawrence Cheesman. Also survived by 10 grandchildren whom he adored, and many nieces and nephews.

Robert was a lifelong resident of Marshfield. He honorably served in the US Navy. Robert was a volunteer Fire Fighter for the town of Marshfield, worked as a custodian at the Marshfield High School from 1968 to 1977 before working for the USPS for 30 years until his retirement.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte 139) Marshfield. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 841 Shore Road, Pocasset MA. Interment will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery at Bourne.
