Obituary

Marshfield mourns the loss of one of its most beloved residents, Robert "Bob" Brett Dick, Jr., who passed away peacefully in hospice care on May 21, 2024, at the age of 91.

Known affectionately as Bob, he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was the devoted husband of the late Marie (McLaughlin) Dick, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. Together, they nurtured a loving family and built a life filled with joy and purpose. His daughter Kathleen Weatherly and husband Bob of Orlando, Florida, along with his son Philip Dick and his wife Nancy (Williams) of Marshfield, Massachusetts, will continue his stories and keep his memory alive.

Born on March 24, 1933, in Brockton, Massachusetts, Bob was the son of the late Robert Brett Dick and Muriel (Jones) Dick. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sisters, Joan Dick Burke, and Theresa Dick Damon.

Bob's life was marked by dedication and service, both to his country and his community. After graduating from Whitman Hanson High School in 1952, he honorably served in the Army for four years before returning home to marry his high school sweetheart, Marie McLaughlin, on July 4, 1957.

A pillar of the Marshfield community, Bob was widely known and respected as the manager of TOABE'S HARDWARE CO., INC., where he dedicated over 20 years to serving the needs of residents and builders alike. His kindness, integrity, and commitment to excellence left an indelible mark on all who crossed his path.

Beyond his professional achievements, Bob was a devoted family man who cherished spending time with his wife, children, and other family members. He had a passion for gardening, snowmobiling, and nurturing the wildlife in his backyard. Many winter weekends were spent exploring the woods of New Hampshire, Maine, and Canada, creating cherished memories filled with laughter and camaraderie.

Bob's infectious spirit and boundless sense of humor touched the lives of all who knew him. In his presence, worries melted away, replaced by laughter and joy. Though he may be gone, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 10:30 am at Saint Christine's Parish, 1295 Main St, Marshfield, MA 02050.
