Robert S. Hood, 64, of Marshfield, formerly of Dorchester passed suddenly at his vacation home in Sarasota, Florida September 5th. Beloved husband of 42 years to Janet (Galante). Devoted father to son Christopher and his wife Elizabeth of Marshfield, daughter Leslie Daigle and her husband Erik of Kingston, and daughter Leighann Thibeault and her husband Kevin of Quincy. Cherished grandfather of William, Charlotte, Olivia, Brooke, Thomas, Connor, and Reed. Robert is also survived by his five siblings Karin Stone of Marshfield, Joseph Hood of Carver, Jean Neal of Wareham, Stephen Hood of Franklin and Michael Hood of Mansfield.
Born and raised in Dorchester, MA, Robert moved to Marshfield in 1974 where he raised his family. A graduate of Boston College High School and Lowell Technical Institute, Robert went on to work as a civil engineer for 32 years until his retirement in 2010. Robert enjoyed sitting by his pool, golfing with his friends, and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held in the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Rte. 139 in Marshfield on Thursday, September 11 from 4 to 8 p.m.
Funeral from the Funeral Home on Friday, September 12, at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann by the Sea Church, 591 Ocean St. in Marshfield at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will be in the Couch Cemetery in Marshfield at a later date.
