Robert L. Marchant, 88, of Marshfield Hills, passed away at home on October 28, 2018, after a period of declining health.
Raised in Watertown, he graduated from Watertown High School in 1947, enlisted in the Navy and later the Air Force.
He held various sales positions in the publishing field.
Bob had been a Mason for 60 years. He was raised in the Waltham Triad Lodge. Most recently, he was active with the Daniel Webster Masonic Lodge as the founding director of their Angel Fund to support local children in need and the Samoset Royal Arch Chapter, where he served as chaplain. He was also a Scottish Rite 32 degree Mason. Bob was a longtime member of the Marshfield Country Club. He was an avid reader, especially on political matters, and will be missed by his cats Joey and Pumpkin.
He leaves his wife of 37 years, Arlene (Nava) Marchant; and three daughters, Sandra Anderson (Jay Sherlock) of Falmouth, Brenda Marchant and Robin Stackhouse (Charles), both from N.J. He leaves 4 grandchildren, Chaz, Lacey and Daniel Stackhouse and Nicole Anderson; and 3 great-grandchildren, Aliyah, Mya and Timothy Jesus. He is also survived by two nephews, Dana and Richard Marchant; and a niece, Tricia Culver. He was predeceased by his brother, Wilbur Marchant (Jean), and one niece, Debra Mahan.
The family would like to thank the Norwell VNA and Hospice and the Marshfield Fire Department for making it possible for Bob to be cared for in his home.

Visiting hours 1-5 p.m. Sunday, November 4, at MacDonald Funeral Home, Marshfield, with a Masonic service at 4 p.m. Interment will be private.
