Obituary

Longtime Duxbury resident Robert (Bob/Gig) Marconi, Sr. recently passed away at the age of 93.

Bob and his wife Mary met in high school, and they married shortly after graduation. Bob loved to describe their first date, and how surprised he was she agreed to go with him to the Young Marines Ball. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.

Together, he and Mary raised four children, ensuring that each one had a good education.

Bob cared lovingly for Mary when her health declined in her final years.

A respected mason, Bob built both his home in Duxbury and a cottage on Cape Cod with his own hands and the help of family and friends. Eventually, he chose to make his living as a lobsterman. Pipe in teeth, Bob and his boat The Sea Ram were a familiar sight at Green Harbor Marina until his reluctant retirement.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both the sea and the woods, as well as the adventures they offered. Known for his attention to detail, he took meticulous care of both his home and his boat. In his later years, he taught himself wood carving and created unique watercolor paintings of the natural world he loved.

Bob is survived by his children and their spouses, Robert, Jr. (wife Virginia), Karen (husband Gary), Beth and Melissa (husband Sean). He had seven grandchildren: Nathan (wife Jessica), Daniel (wife Amy), Katelin (husband Parker), Eric, Madeline, Alexandra and Juliana. Bob also leaves seven great-grandchildren: Owen, Holland, Dylan, Rosemary, Juniper, Everett and Avery.

The family is holding a private celebration of life.
