Brother of Sandra Murphy of Marshfield and William Sylvester of N.H. He was born in Weymouth and educated at Northeastern University and the regional police academy. Bob was a Town of Marshfield police officer from l973 to l983. , from l985 to the present time he was a Special police officer at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. He served as an M.P. in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
