Robert A. Trongone of Plymouth passed away on June 2, 2021 at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Barbara (Alix) Trongone; loving father of Lee Ann Sergio of Bridgewater, Gary Trongone and his wife Debbie of Marshfield, Marc Trongone of Duxbury, and Randy Trongone and his wife Carmela of Hanson; cherished grandfather of Gino, Matthew, Michael, Ryan, Nicholas, Madson, Gabrielle, Emily, Lauren, and Olivia. Son of the late George and Asunta Trongone, he is predeceased by siblings George and Claire Trongone but leaves a sister, Norma Fenochietti.

Bobby grew up in Malden and attended Malden High School. Thereafter, he moved to Marshfield where he was employed at the Quincy Shipyard in addition to working as a pizza chef at his family's restaurant, The Checkerboard, in Marshfield.

He joined the army in January 1961 as an Armor Crewman, driving tanks during his tour of duty. When he completed his service, he came back to Marshfield and returned to his job at The Checkerboard where he met his wife of 55 years while she waitressed during her summer breaks home from college. Following that, he worked in construction until he retired and joined his son, assisting him in his painting business.

Bobby was active in the Green Harbor Yacht Club, the Marshfield Elks, and the American Legion however, above all he was happiest when spending time with his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed taking them on camping trips and attending their school events. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, skiing, traveling, reading, listening to country music, as well as taking care of his yard and home. Bobby was a Jack of all trades and a Mr. Fix-it. He will be deeply missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend services on Monday, June 14, 2021 beginning with visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Church, 40 Canal Street in Marshfield. Services will conclude with a graveside service with Military Honors in the Winslow Cemetery in Marshfield.
