Obituary

It is with a broken heart that we announce the passing of Bob Wagner on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at the age of 82. He was born in Boston on November 29, 1939 and was the son of Herbert E. and Elizabeth (Wyllie) Wagner. He was the loving husband of Meredith "Merry" Wagner, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. They met for the first time at Camp Aldersgate in Rhode Island when they were only 13 and 14 years of age. They met up again a few years later and quickly fell in love and were married. Except for the past 4 years, Bob had been a lifelong resident of Massachusetts, including 42 years in Marshfield. He was very proud to have served in the United States Coast Guard, and he was even stationed in overseas in Turkey for a year, where he learned his trade.

Bob worked as a pipe welder for many companies in Boston and on the South Shore and was the successful owner of Seaflower Welding. Over the years many of his friends and coworkers always commented on his dedication to his family, his profession, and that he was the hardest worker that they ever knew. He had an amazing work ethic and was called in numerous times to either fix other people's mistakes or to figure out how to do a job that no one else could. He worked on the machinery for the "Big Dig", the "Zipper Truck" and even once made the railings at the Bunker Hill Monument.

Bob graduated from Holbrook High School in 1957, where he played many sports, ran track and field, and even participated in Semsba at UMass Amherst. He had a wonderful singing voice and enjoyed the Boston Pops, classical and country music, and all types of patriotic songs. Bob was known to play in the adult over 30 league men's softball and adult mixed volleyball for many years, both in Marshfield. He enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Celtics, and UConn Women's Basketball. His favorite pastime was boating in Green Harbor, MA and on Sebago Lake in Maine. He couldn't wait until spring to take family and friends out for a boat ride. Many happy summer vacations were spent on Coffee Pond in Casco, Maine, too. Bob also enjoyed traveling all around New England antiquing with his late wife.

Bob is survived by his daughter Kimberly Wagner-Smith and her husband David of Pembroke, his daughter Lisa Wagner of Otisfield, Maine, and his much-adored grandson David Smith, Jr. He was the brother of Elizabeth (Wagner) Braman and late brother in-law Frank of Casco, Maine, and brother to the late Herbert E. Wagner. He was the brother in-law to Carl E. Webster and his wife Sue of Sanibel, Florida. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him, but especially by his nieces and nephews, cousins, and both new and lifelong friends and neighbors.

The family would like to thank Bob's special caretakers at Northern Light Mercy Primary Care in Windham, Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, Maine Medical Center in Portland, Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice, and the Marshwood Center in Lewiston. They were all so kind, thoughtful, loving and caring to him and his daughters over the past few months. They are all truly special people.
