Obituary

March 18, 1943 – February 16, 2025.

Ronald "Ronnie" V. Carrara, of Marshfield, MA, passed away on February 16, 2025, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born and raised in Dorchester.  He graduated from Boston Technical High School.  After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for several years.  He was a proud U.S. Army veteran.  After serving, Ronnie was employed as a draftsman at Boston Edison, while also attending night school at Boston College, and serving as President of the Student Body.  After graduating college, Ronnie worked his way up through Edison to become a Labor Relations Specialist.  He retired from Edison after over 30 years of dedicated service.

Ronnie met his beloved wife, Frances Mee, at Falmouth Heights Beach in 1966.  They were married in Dorchester in 1968 and were married for 56 years.  They enjoyed many adventures traveling with family and great friends.  Some of their many trips included skiing at Sunday River, cruising to many tropical locations, gambling at casinos, trips to Europe, and many winters spent in Naples, FL.

In addition to his wife, Frances, Ronnie is survived by their sons, John, of Plymouth and Stephen and his wife, Melanie (Spicer), of Norton.  He was the proud grandfather "Papa" to Joshua and Gavin.

Ronnie was a dedicated father, and coached Weymouth Youth Hockey and Little League Baseball for over 15 years.  He was always happy to attend the many games his two grandsons played throughout the years, always being a colorful spectator.

Ronnie was known for his sense of humor and outgoing spirit.  He was a passionate Boston sports fan and he always knew better than the refs.  His personality was so magnetic that it didn't matter if he just met you 5 minutes ago, or you were a lifelong friend, he always made you feel like you were special to him.  For those that were lucky enough to have known Ronnie, you were no doubt informed that he is proud to be the 3rd cousin of Pope John XXIII.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home on Ocean Street in Marshfield.  A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Christine's Church at 1295 Main Street, Marshfield, MA.
