Obituary

Rose M. (Caparrotta) Johnson of Duxbury passed away on January 14, 2021 at the age of 86. Beloved wife of the late Herbert F. Johnson; loving mother of Larry Johnson and his wife Cheryl of Plymouth, Ronald Johnson and his wife Cathy of Duxbury, Thomas Johnson of Duxbury, Chris Johnson and his wife Carlene of Marshfield, and Brian Johnson and Kelly O'Neil of Duxbury; cherished grandmother of Daniel, Brendan, Joseph, Martha, Nick, Alicia, Anthony, Cody, Kelly, Christopher, Colin, Kate, Mary, Jake, Emma, and great-grandchildren Avery, Nevaeh, Ethan, Giana, CJ, CT, Adelaide, and Jude. Dear sister of the late Rudy Caparrotta, Kay Ahlstrand, and Nicholas Caparrotta.

Rose was born on July 28, 1934 in Hingham to Nicholas and Josephine Capparotta. She was a graduate of Hingham High School Class of 1953, where she participated in many clubs and activities there. Most notably was her role as a Drum Majorette with the High School marching band , and definitely a preview of her lifelong passion for Dancing and Music .

In June of 1959, Rose Married Herbert Johnson and embarked in her most cherished role as a devoted wife and mother of her five sons. It came as no surprise that Rose continued to look after children as playground aid and eventually a crossing guard for the children attending the Chandler School in Duxbury. After retiring from that honorable occupation, Rose continued with her lifelong passion for care giving on a family level by helping with her rapidly growing number of grandchildren. Beginning with the birth of two more boys, Rosie then hit the "grandmother jackpot" with the birth of her three beautiful granddaughters within three months of each other! To say Rose was delighted is a understatement.

Over the years Rose was busy helping to care for and mentor all of her grandchildren. Rose enjoyed family reunions, traveling with Herbie, and visiting loved ones country wide. Rose was a avid Boston sports fan and was devoted to following her New England Patriots as well as the Boston Bruins. It was not unusual to be watching a game and to receive a phone call from Rose to discuss some "In Game action "or to complain about some egregious call by a "visually impaired " official.

Rose loved music and treasured her Frank Sinatra collection of tapes, which were made by her loving brother Nicky and which she listened to regularly over the years. When recently asked which song would she consider her favorite she stated emphatically "My Way" by old blue eyes himself!

Rose and Herbie were a true love story and inseparable! It comes as no surprise that it took less than one year for Rose to rejoin the love of her life .
