Obituary

Rozina Teresa Evangelista was born in Berlin, New Hampshire, the eight child in a family of twelve. Growing up in such a large family household nurtured her for love of people and family.

Rose married Dick Parsons and they were married for forty eight years and had three children, Andrea, Kenneth and Richard. Together they moved to Marshfield where Rose worked for twenty years at the Webster Room. She was heralded as the most popular waitress in Marshfield. Everyone was family to Rose, and she treated all her customers with great care, remembering their favorite meals and making sure they were like guests rather than customers. When the Webster Room transitioned into a bakery, Rose enjoyed a new life as a baker.

After her beloved Dick passed away, she eventually met and married Fred Howard, whom she was married to for twelve years. Rose and Fred were leaders in their community and were involved in practically every activity in Marshfield. Rose was a Girl Scout Leader for twelve years, while she and Fred volunteered in a variety of projects. They were members of the Italian Club, AARP, and Fred was the first president of the Marshfield Senior Center. Rose attended the Senior Center every day and was involved in many activities, such as singing, dancing and performing in shows. She was involved in Tai chi and brought the Red Hatters –renamed the Red Devils- to the seniors.

Rose continued in her role as a caretaker at Harbor House in Hingham until the day she died. Again everyone was family to Rose, and she would sit with other residents especially when they were sick, to accompany them through their struggles. Her enduring love for others and fun loving spirit impacted staff and residents alike.

Rose passed peacefully on May 1, 2021 surrounded by her loving family, and was laid to rest with a private graveside service in the Couch Cemetery in Marshfield. She leaves behind her children, Andrea her daughter and husband Robert Costello, her son Richard Parsons and his wife Brenda Parsons and the late Kenneth Parsons and his wife Elaine, her remaining beloved sister Theresa Heerey. 9 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren. To her many, many cherished nieces and nephews she remained Aunty Rosie, hilarious, loving and completely unforgettable. Always the life of the party!!

To honor Rose a Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date.
