Obituary

Rose M. (Lawlor) Walsh of Marshfield and Naples, Florida, passed away on August 1, 2020 at the age of 90 years. Beloved wife of the late Alan R. Walsh, she is survived by her children, Kevin and his wife Donna of Naples, FL.; Brian and his wife Ellen of Holbrook; Kathleen Spicer and her husband Albert of Carver; Mary Beth Barton and her husband Thomas of Hanover; Maureen Flanagan and her husband Michael of Plymouth; and Mark and his wife Kerri of Scituate. Rose was the cherished grandmother to 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and dear sister of the late Fenton Lawlor of Halifax and Ann Grady of Newton.

Rose was a graduate of Bellows Falls High School in Vermont, and went on to study nursing at Boston College. She worked as a registered nurse and nursing instructor at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton until her retirement.

Rose lived her dream retirement of winters by the pool in Florida and summers at Sunrise Beach in Marshfield. She volunteered for many years at women's shelters and local senior centers. Her home had an open door policy for family and friends, and she was never happier than when everyone crowded in for a cookout or holiday celebration. She was a devoted Catholic, an avid reader, gardener, and cribbage player. You would almost always find her with her knitting in her hands, making award winning sweaters and Christmas stockings for all her children, grandchildren and great children. Her recipes were famous, especially her marble squares and lemon fluff. Her laugh was hard earned but infectious, and she loved traveling the world with her husband and friends. Her last big trip was a cruise to Bermuda with her family.

Funeral services will be private. Contributions in Rose's memory may be made to My Brother's Keeper, P.O. Box 338, Easton, MA 02356-0338.
