With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Sarah (Sadie) Elizabeth Ohlund, our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend on November 16, 2023. She left us peacefully, after a brief illness, at the age of 93.

Born in 1929 in Nova Scotia, Canada, Sadie was the fifth of ten children. Sadie moved to Boston in 1953 with her sister, Anne, to pursue her calling as a registered nurse. She had a long successful career as a surgical nurse, retiring from South Shore Hospital.

Sadie was a beloved member of the Marshfield community. She was a longtime member of North Community Church and frequently volunteered at the public library and North River Arts Society. Sadie also had a passion for local blood drives.

Sadie was a whiz at The Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, painting, beach excursions and rides on the boat!

Sadie was a beautiful person inside and out! Her smile was stunning and would light up the room! She cared so deeply for the people around her! She was kind and compassionate and had an impact on so many lives! She will be forever missed!

Sadie is survived by her 3 sons Richard, David and Robert, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her devoted husband Ken.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. The Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the North Community Church, 72 Old Main Street in Marshfield Hills, followed by burial in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Boston.
