Samuel Richard Partain, 70, of Duxbury, Massachusetts passed away peacefully surrounded by family, after a brief and valiant battle with MDS, on September 15, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Joana (Da Costa) Partain, loving father of Meredith Partain of Dallas, TX, Nathaniel Partain and his wife Sally of Denver, CO, Zachary Partain and his wife Sian of Dallas, TX, Seth Partain of Bridgewater, Tristan Partain of Duxbury, and Abigail Partain of North Carolina and grandfather of Natalya and Lacey Partain. Cherished son of Frances (Bruno) and the late Richard Partain, he was dear brother of Glenna Vose and her husband Richard of South Carolina and Charles Partain and his wife Gina of Gardner, MA. He was predeceased by his beloved dog, Abby.

Sam was born on May 16, 1951 in Norfolk, Virginia. His father was in the Navy and his family moved many times throughout his childhood until 1964 when he settled in Massachusetts. Sam attended Northeastern University and graduated with a degree in Marine Biology. Sam's love of the ocean brought him to Duxbury where he has been a resident since 1977.

Sam was an extremely talented General Contractor and learned the trade from his grandfather. He prided himself on his work and professionalism. Sam was energetic and always doing something- whether it was spending time with his beloved dog Abby, working on a project for the house, collecting stamps and historical documents on slavery, reading books, or being on or near the ocean.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Mayflower Cemetery of Duxbury.
