Sandra A. (Reed) Murphy, of Marshfield, passed away on September 17, 2018 at the age of 58. Beloved wife of John "Jack" J. Murphy; dear mother of Amanda Murphy of Kingston, Jenna Caron and her husband Michael of Marshfield, and John D. Murphy and his wife Kayti of Pembroke. Sandi leaves her cherished grandchildren, Collin and Michael, siblings Gene Reed, Rick Reed and his wife Pat, Wendy Harriman and her husband Greg, Dan Reed and his wife Carol, and Scott Reed and is wife Janice, and many nieces and nephews. She was daughter of the late Melvin K. and Dorothy L. (Willis) Reed.
Sandi grew up in Whitman. She had many fond memories and friends from her time with the youth group at her church, United Methodist Church of Whitman. She graduated from Whitman Hanson High School with the Class of 1977. Not long after graduating she met and fell in love with Jack, her husband of 39 years. She was always happy to volunteer with her children's many activities, from chaperoning field trips to coach and board member of Marshfield Youth Cheerleading and Marshfield Youth Softball. She spent many cold hours in the rink watching her son play youth hockey. No matter what it was, she was there watching so proud. Sandi enjoyed mornings of weekends when Michael stayed at the house. He would sit with her in the kitchen having breakfast before anyone else was awake. Her grandson Collin, her little bug-a-boo, was the light of her life. Grammy loved him to the moon and back. There wasn't anything she wouldn't have done for him.
Sandi enjoyed gardening and had 2 green thumbs. She could truly bring plants back to life. Sandi was an avid reader. If you found that she was suddenly speaking with a southern accent, she was probably reading a book set in the south. She was an amazing cook; her taco salad was the favorite at many a party. She loved gathering the family for large home cooked meals like her lasagna with homemade sauce and meatloaf. Sandi was a kind and compassionate woman liked by all who met her. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) in Marshfield. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Colebrook Cemetery in Whitman.
