Sharon Mary Cayon Andrew, known by her family as "Mimi", a resident of Duxbury for 57 years, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 9, at the Pat Roche Hospice House in Hingham, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
Sharon was born in 1945 in East Boston, before her family moved to Norwell in 1959, the only daughter of four children, to the late Mario G. Cayon and Grace Florence Cayon (McHatton)
Sharon graduated from Norwell in 1963 in a class of forty-seven, along with her future husband Peter Andrew. She furthered her education in all aspects of business management while raising her family in Duxbury.
After serving 4 years as a dedicated military wife, mostly in North Carolina, she landed her dream job as the Director of Business in the Whitman Hanson Regional School District. She made many friends, played a key role in the building of their new multi-million dollar high school and earned a deserved reputation for her caring and supportive leadership style.
While developing a successful career, raising her family was always priority one. One of her favorite places was on Duxbury beach, sipping a vodka gimlet and watching the sunsets with family and friends. She could make a meal on a propane beach grill with all the trimmings as if she was in her own kitchen.
She was so happy when her sons brought loving daughters-in-law into the family to shop with her, laugh with her and host family parties and holidays. Her greatest joy was doting on her ten grandchildren who made her truly happy, every day.
Sharon is survived by her husband Peter, her brother Ron Cayon and his wife Robin from Frisco, TX and predeceased by her brothers Martin (2019) and Steve (1997). She was the loving mother to Shawn Andrew and his wife Ann of Easton, MA, Eric Andrew and his wife Karen of Marshfield, MA and Christopher Andrew and his wife Libby of Duxbury, MA.
She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Meghan, a travel nurse in Colorado; Kendall, a Phys Ed teacher in Attleboro; Tim, a real estate broker in Austin, TX; Kyle, a senior at Boston College; Allison, a sophomore at Villanova University, Sydney, an 8th grade student in Marshfield; Myles, a sophomore in Duxbury; Marshall, a freshman in Duxbury; Dylan, a 6th grade student in Duxbury; and Charlie, a 4th grade student in Duxbury; along with 3 nieces and 3 nephews.
