Born on February 23, 1937 of Marshfield, MA and Naples, Fl. Passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the age of 85 after a wonderful life full of love and laughter. Beloved wife of the late Arthur Leo Flanagan, and devoted mother to David and Patty Flanagan of Falmouth, MA, Joanne and Kevin Douglas of Reading, MA, and Paul and Joanne Flanagan of Marshfield, MA. Proud Grandmother to Brian, Matthew (Megan), and Kelsey Flanagan, Eric (Chalini), Jennifer and Jeffrey Douglas, Cornelius (Caroline) and Julia Flanagan. She was never afraid to provide both a loving hug and a big kiss to each of them along with the sharp reminder to always be tough and always stand up for yourself. She was also the great-grandmother to Grace Flanagan. Loving daughter of the late Cornelius Harrington from Glengarriff, Ireland and Julia (Cronin) Harrington from Bantry Bay Ireland and sister to Cornelia (and Russ) Braese of Woburn, MA and Helen Dolan of Winchester, MA. Beloved Aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
Sheila graduated from Malden Girls Catholic High School and then attended Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. Along the way, she met and then married the love of her life, Artie, and devoted herself to raising her children. Once the kids were grown and off to school, Sheila found her dream job in retail spending 18 years working at Talbots where she spent all day talking (her favorite activity) to customers and investing her pay in new clothes. Sheila loved to meet new people and learn absolutely everything about them, play golf and bridge, and always enjoy a cocktail at the end of day. Sheila was an avid dog enthusiast and loved her Gizmo and Bantry. She was a devoted Catholic, which she instilled in her three children and loved her parish, St. Christine's Church in Marshfield MA.
While Sheila always insisted on being the center of attention, due to the family's request funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Northeast Region, by mail to 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452 or online at alz.org.
