Obituary

Leahy, Stephen passed away earlier this week after a long bout with cancer at the age of 61. Steve and his family were residents for 35 years of the Southport area of town. Steve is the son of the late Thomas M. and Margaret E. Leahy of Stoneham. He is survived by his six brothers, Michael, Barry, Brian, Darin and Terry of Massachusetts and Kevin of Maine. He also leaves his sister Mary Ward of Vermont. He leaves behind his beloved wife of almost 42 years, Linda J. (Santosuosso), formerly of Stoneham, and his three amazing children Stephen and Cynthia Leahy of Marshfield, Marie and Justin Vogel of Hingham and Michelle and Patrick Motto of Attleboro. All three of his children volunteered to be live donors for any transplant. Along with his three children, he leaves the loves of his life, seven grandchildren: Jack, Kate, Grace, Gavin, Ryan, Sean, and Leah. Before his illness Steve could frequently be seen on the Keville trail behind CVS with his Newfoundland dogs. During his time in Marshfield, Steve was a CCD teacher with St. Ann's by the Sea parish. He was a coach of both Marshfield boys and girls youth basketball. He was an assistant scout master for troop 212 in Marshfield. Steve worked for the United States Customs Service for 14 years in Vermont, Boston and Washington, D.C. He was a graduate with honors from Lowell Technological Institute and Suffolk University School of Law night division and spent 25 years in private law practice. Steve wanted everyone to never forget, at the end of days, You can leave them money, You can leave them jewelry, You can leave them land, But always leave them laughing. Visiting hours will be held in the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Rte. 139 on Thursday, January 29 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home on Friday, January 30 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann by the Sea Church, 591 Ocean St. in Marshfield at 10:00 a.m. Contributions in Stephen's memory may be made to Rosie's Place, 889 Harrison Ave., Boston, MA 02118 or the Pine St. Inn, 444 Harrison Ave., Boston, MA 02118.
