Steven Allan Rhodes, born on December 19, 1943, in Stoneham, MA, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024, in Hingham, MA, at the age of 80.

Steve graduated from Salem State College with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and dedicated many years of his life to teaching, both as a high school math instructor and as a softball coach. Later, he transitioned his analytical skills and passion for problem-solving to a career in quality assurance within the software development industry.

Beyond his professional life, Steve was an avid lover of games and competition. He found joy in the strategy and camaraderie of golf, bridge, poker, pool, and cribbage. He was a familiar face and steadfast supporter at the Marshfield Council on Aging senior center, where his warmth, wit, and generosity of spirit touched many lives.  In addition to finding great joy and companionship there, Steve also volunteered his time with the Marshfield Council on Aging Boosters to help raise money to further benefit the center.

Steve was the beloved father of Rhiannon Rhodes and Lindsay Newton, father-in-law to Mark Ray and Patrick Newton, and proud grandfather to Briley and Trevor Newton. He is also survived by his loving sister Charlene Gildea and brother Richard Rhodes. Steve is remembered with love by his late parents, Barbara Althea Damren and Richard Stanley Rhodes, who preceded him in death.

A memorial service to celebrate Steve's life will be held on November 1, 2024, from 3:00 to 6:00 in the afternoon at MacDonald Funeral Home in Marshfield, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Steve's memory to the Marshfield Council on Aging or to the NVNA Pat Roche Hospice Home.

Steve's legacy of love, wisdom, and laughter will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
